Enfidha-Hammamet airport (NBE) is the gateway to the resorts of the Gulf of Hammamet and the northern Sahel: most flights here are holiday routes, and a rental car makes obvious sense — the hotels are spread between Hammamet, Nabeul, Sousse and Port El Kantaoui, 35 to 50 kilometres to either side.

Why rent right at Enfidha

A private transfer to Hammamet or Sousse is expensive for a single ride; with a car collected at the terminal, that same journey becomes the start of the holiday. The airport sits practically on the A1 motorway: Hammamet is about 45 minutes north, Sousse 40 minutes south, Port El Kantaoui half an hour.

Holiday flights arrive in waves, often early morning or late evening: give your flight times when booking so the agency is there at the right moment. In summer, demand on this stretch of coast is intense — book the car when you book the flights to get your pick of models.

An airport equidistant from two regions

That is Enfidha's peculiarity: it serves not one city but two tourist hubs. Hammamet and Yasmine Hammamet are about forty minutes north, Sousse and Port El Kantaoui roughly the same to the south. Monastir takes an hour, Kairouan a little more inland, and Tunis around an hour and a quarter on the A1. In other words none of these is served by a convenient shuttle — this is the Tunisian airport where a car makes the biggest difference.

The exit and the motorway

The terminal stands alone in open country and feeds straight onto the A1, so getting going is easy with no urban driving. Keep coins for the tolls, in both directions. Signage for Hammamet and for Sousse is clear from the slip road, but both directions are taken at the same interchange — check your sign before committing, as turning back costs a good ten kilometres.

Flight times and driving

Many charters land early in the morning or late at night. After dark the A1 is the right choice: lit in sections, wide and predictable. Avoid the back roads of the interior after nightfall. In season, the approaches to Yasmine Hammamet and the Sousse corniche are saturated in the late afternoon — if you land then, add twenty minutes to any estimate.

The Kia Picanto is the city car in its purest definition: under four metres, a tiny turning circle and agility that turns town into easy terrain. Tight parallel parking, narrow streets, scarce spaces — nothing fazes it.

Its other asset is budget: one of the gentlest daily rates in the catalogue and token fuel consumption. For mostly urban use — commutes, errands, appointments — it's hard to be more relevant. For long trips with four people and luggage, step up a category.
